There is a mountain oasis in the hidden valley of the Dodiah Mountains. In this oasis there is the small town of Udeski, a place where the water runs clean and clear. The frequent rains in sure the crops will grow. Out a half mile from the town a boy sits on a stump on the tallest hill. This boy goes to sit every day at the same time, and watches the other kids play. He wakes up, eats breakfast and walks to the oddly placed tree stump. The boy was lonely; he had a home, yes, but he didn’t have a family to go home to: no mother, no father, no brothers, nor sisters. The boy was around the goats that graze the land and learned as much as he could from them, and what he could learn from outside the school house when he felt like going. Today was like the rest the wake up, the breakfast, and the short uphill walk to his stump, but today he noticed a girl that he has never seen around town, when he went to sell food to the merchants. This girl had a light blue sundress with a ribbon tied at the waist, and in her hair was a ribbon tying her blonde hair back.
“Who is she? She’s so beautiful have to talk to her,” days went by and he could never see it through
The next day the boy did as he always did. He woke up, found food, and went to sit on his stump, but today he saw someone standing by his stump.

“Hey, get away from there, that’s my stump,” the boy yelled as he ran up the hill to his stump.

“Oh, hi, my name is Daisy May. I see you out here every day, and I wanted to say hi. What’s your name, huh,” Daisy May said politely showing a big smile on her face.
“Oh, uh, um,” the boy was so surprised he couldn’t speak.
“You know it’s rude to not introduce yourself after someone else did first. Didn’t your momma ever teach you any manners?” Daisy May questioned.
“I,” the boy hesitates, “I don’t have a momma” he finally said with his head down.
“I’m so sorry, where is your papa,” Daisy May asked concerned about the boy.
“He… he,” the boy hesitates again, “I don’t have a papa neither,” the boy said as a tear falls from his face.
“Oh my, who do you live with?” Daisy may ask giving the boy a hug.

“I live by myself in the small farm house down there,” the boy explains, “I was taken care of by the wild goats that live around here. The only reason I stay out her is because no one likes me.”
“What’s your name?” Daisy May asked hugging the boy tighter.
“I don’t have a name,” the boy said pulling himself away from Daisy May.
“Uh how about this I’ll call you,” Daisy may thinks for a moment, “goat boy, I’ll call you goat boy from now on,” Daisy May say sitting on his stump.
“I like goat boy, that’s a good name I’m going to go tell the goats!” goat boy said grabbing Daisy Mays hands, “do you want to meet them? Their nice I promise,” goat boy said urging her to go with him.
“I’m sorry, I can’t, my momma doesn’t know I’m out here,” Daisy May said looking over her shoulder
“Well do you want to play?” goat boy asked.
“Later, I promise, I’ll be out later,” Daisy May says running back to her house.

Goat boy runs from the stump stumbling and rolling down the hill, he stand up and runs into the woods, he is checking every subtle sign that he set up to find his way to the goats. When he finally the tree that he climbs to call the goats out of hiding. Goat Boy climbs up grams the rock that’s on the branch and knocks on the tree three times. The knocks shake the tree with a hollow noise ringing out. Goat Boy looks down and sees the goats come out of hiding. Goat boy climbs half way down the tree then jumps to the ground “mamma goat, papa goat, I have a name like yours, I’m goat boy, and proud to be,” goat boy stands there a moment waiting for a response, “ I also met a girl her name is Daisy man and she gave me the name isn’t that cool momma goat,” goat boy starts to frown a little when the goats still don’t answer, “ momma goat, papa goat, what’s the matter with you talk” goat boy started to tear up as he turned to run away. He made it out of the woods before he broke down crying, “I’m so stupid, and why would I think they were able to talk? Their goats, it was all in my head, stupid, stupid” goat by wailed on his hands and knees. As tears fell from his face he stood up and tried to wipe away the rushing tears, but the tears wouldn’t stop. He was sniffling and wiping his eyes as he walked to the stump to wait for daisy may to come out and play.

Days passed and daisy may never showed her face for anything not school, not to play, not even to go shopping for food. Goat boy finally walks to Daisy May’s house. Right be for he knocks the door opens and a woman dressed in black is standing there.

“Oh, hi there little boy are you lost? Where are your parents,” Daisy May’s mother asked

“Are… are,” goat boy says nervously, “are you Daisy May’s momma?” goat boy finally asked

“Oh dear, you must be one of her friends, and you haven’t heard yet have you,” Daisy May’s mother says in a saddened voice

“Heard what?” goat boy asked puzzled

“Please come in I’ll tell you what happened,” Daisy May’s mother said. Goat boy fallows her into the house the main hallway to the house was long and goat boy could see a room with a bed made up with a doll lying on the pillow. He also passed a chair that was somewhat out of place. Goat boy is led into a room with a carpet and a couch and chair, “Would you like something to drink?”

“No thank you ma’am. So what’s wrong with Daisy May?” goat boy asked nervously

“A few days ago Daisy may disappeared, and no one has been able to find her. We think she’s been kidnapped, but no one has found any leads,” Daisy May’s mother answered starting to cry.

Goat boy sat in his spot for a moment when one of his tears hit the floor he picked his head up. “I will find her I promise I will and I’m not going to stop until I do. Do you understand me? She’s my friend and I’m going to save her,” goat boy exclaims walking to Daisy May’s bed room to look around. He sees a piece of paper sticking out of a book on her night stand, “ma’am can you read this for me? I don’t know how,”

Daisy May’s mother looks over the paper for a moment and says, “The man that kidnapped her wants the boy that sits on the stump,” she looks to goat boy for an answer.

“That’s me” goat by says in a hushed tone

“What do you mean; you are the boy that the man wants for my Daisy May?” Daisy May’s mother asks

“I’ll take care of it I’ll be back and she will be with me and she will be safe” goat boy says and bolts out the door leaving it open. He runs out of the village and into the woods. Goat boy climbs the tree calls out the goats and shaves them with a sharp rock. After he gets the fur he needs he runs back to the farm house to get to work.

Goat boy grabs some leather from the pile that has been sitting for years in the corner, picks the strongest pieces and starts connecting the fur to the leather. After all the fur is on the leather goat boy starts cutting the material to size. When he finished cutting he sewed the pieces together to make the mask and carved some boards to make the breast plate and boots. “I am ready I am going to find my friend and I am going to keep her safe. I am Goat Boy he hero in Udeski, I will be known throughout these mountains. I’m going to save you Daisy May I will save you” Goat Boy runs from the farm house and along the woods surrounding the village. He ran until he couldn’t run anymore but he always remembered the promise he made to himself so he kept going.

After a while of running Goat Boy saw a covered trail and followed it. The rain began to fall, and the further he ran, the harder it began to rain. It was raining so hard he could barely see past ten yards, but he can see a faint light in the distance, he runs faster. Thunder booms behind him and he ran on as if nothing happened. He got to the house and saw the figure of a man walk by the window and goat boy instantly hides. Goat boy slowly creeps over to the house checking every window looking for Daisy May. The last window on the house he saw her.

Goat Boy taps the window getting Daisy May’s attention. When Daisy May looks up lightening flashes giving Goat Boy a menacing silhouette. Daisy May screams in horror as the man walks in.

“Ram Man is getting annoyed with you girl, I told you to be quiet until the people bring the boy, why haven’t you eaten the food Ram Man has cooked,” Ram Man says in a fury. When Ram Man finishes his rant he walks out slamming the door giving Goat Boy his cue to get Daisy may out of the house. Goat Boy takes his chances and taps on the window again, and when Daisy May looks and sees Goat boy with normally.

“Who are you?” Daisy may asked opening the window slowly

“I am the Udeski hero, Goat boy, and I’m here to save you” Goat Boy says with his chest puffed out

“Goat Boy why do you have a goat costume” Daisy May asks looking over her shoulder listening for Ram Man

“With this suit no one will know who I am when I’m helping the village” Goat Boy answers with a smile on his face

“Goat Boy please don’t you’ll get hurt you can’t we are just kids we can’t fight an adult” Daisy may pleads

“Daisy May I promise I won’t get hurt ok lets go” Goat Boy urges Daisy May

“No, not now, go get help, and hurry” Daisy May says running back to the bed, and then the door swings open. Before Ram Man could look out the window Goat Boy already started down the path back to the village.

Goat Boy makes it out of the forest and up the hills to the village. Once there Goat Boy starts looking for the sheriff. He stops running when he sees Daisy Mays mother walking in the market.

“Ma’am, ma’am” Goat Boy says trying to get her attention.

“Oh it’s the young man that said he would find my Daisy May” Daisy May’s Mother said showing off a fake smile

“Yeah that’s me, but I have to find the sheriff. Where is he?” Goat Boy asked winded. Goat Boy looks around and sees the sheriff, and then bolts in his direction

“Hello there young man, are you playing super hero with your friends” the sheriff asked not noticing him Goat Boy trying to catch his breath

Goat Boy finally catches his breath and stomps his foot down “I’m not playing super hero I am one. I found Daisy may all by myself she is in a small house down the hidden path through the woods and I need help getting her out”

The sheriff looks at Goat Boy puzzled “tell me the story of how you found her” the sheriff requested so Goat Boy tells the sheriff everything that was happening. After Goat Boy finished the sheriff said “son how about this I’m going to get a few of the men in town and load up a cart and you are going to ride up front with me to show the way”

Soon enough there were men ready to arrest Ram Man, so they ride down to the path and on the way to the house. The further in the thunder starts to boom as all the men start to tremble goat boy stands looking straight into the rain “we are almost there sheriff I can see the house”

“Ok men wait three minutes to knock on the door so we can get ready to get the girl out of the house” the sheriff ordered and the men got into position “Goat Boy are you ready”

“I was born ready sir” goat boy said hoping out and running next to the cart. The sheriff tells the men the plan again and followed Goat Boy around house. When Goat Boy knocks on the window Daisy May was already there waiting

“Goat Boy I told you to get the sheriff” Daisy May said

“He’s here with me, I did what you asked” Goat Boy responded

“Hey there little miss, are you ready to go?” the sheriff asked “wait one moment” the knock rings through the house “four, three, two…” the sound of a struggle in the living room area is. Daisy May grabs a blanket and is helped out the window by Goat Boy that came in through the window, “here you are lets go, come on Goat Boy”

“Coming sir…” Goat Boy gets cut off from the door slamming against the wall “oh no run you guys I’ll be out in a sec”

“Ram Man Doesn’t knows who you are, and Ram Man Doesn’t care. You are messing with my plans Ram Man has set up. Ram Man wants the boy and I’ll keep you until he comes here. NOW COME HERE!!!” Ram Man Rants in a rage and grabs for Goat Boy. Having the split second to get out of the way Ram Man is half out the window, and then Goat Boy closes the window keeping him in place.

Goat Boy walks out of the house then three men walk in to get Ram Man from the window. Goat Boy sits next to the Daisy May and she lays her head on Goat Boy’s shoulder and starts to fall asleep. Before Daisy May fell asleep she says “Goat Boy you’ll be my friend forever.”

“Daisy May” Goat Boy starts to says taking off his mask “call me John” Goat Boy finishes with his head against hers. The sheriff sees them and sets a second blanket over them as they both fall asleep.
