Change is needed
The town of East Ranch is a very boring town with very blan people. Then one day a family moves in and inspires Parker to do somthing he never imagined.
Chapter 1: Change is here The room was plain beige with an empty desk, one window and the bed solid.
The wood flooring cold, I dragged my feet across the room and into the bathroom and pushed myself to take a shower.
I got dressed and made my way done stairs. I ate my corn flakes as always and got into the car.
The drive was long passing each building by, each looking like the other.
I had finally made it across town to the old school.
I parked my car into the lot and looked up at the sky, the clouds looked grey and started to form circles.
I ran to the building as it started to sprinkle. The bell rang just as I was at the doorway of my class. I took a seat in the back and watched as others took seats as well.
I looked around the class everything looking the same. I glanced at each student, nothing standing out. The teacher began to pour out information the class was long and I slowly began to drift away.
“Parker!”
I looked up confused as Miss Tree was standing at the foot of my desk she was a tall women with a long face and a slender nose. She handed me a stack of papers
“If you’re going to stare at your desk you might as well take these to the principals office”
I staggered to get out of my desk as I made my way to the door. The hallways where poorly lit and the walls painted eggshell white. I made it through the main office a small room located in front of the school.
“Hey you”
I looked around. And sitting in a chair was a mole looking women she was very plump and she had her finger pointed at me. I slowly made my way to her desk.
“I need you to show a new student around”
I looked down at my papers and began to mumble. She looked at me with a flash of disgust.
“Here give me your papers, just sit down and wait for her”
I took the seat nearest to the door and waited, we never get new students. I heard laughter in the next room; laughter is not something you hear often here. I stood up, curious and made my way to the next room I see the mole women giggling like a child she straightens up as soon as she sees me.
“ Hmm…here is are new student make sure you do a good job of showing her around”
I looked around confused because I hadn’t noticed her before. She was wearing a tie die shirt with floral shorts and was blond with tan skin. She to had a smile on her face.
“Hi, my names Parris”
We walked in silence but I couldn’t help but keep glancing at her. SHE WAS DIFFERENT the three words that where running through my mind. She didn’t look like anyone here but I couldn’t figure why. I took her to each class saying fewer words each time.
I was finally finished as I dropped her off at her last class. She gave me a wide smile and thanked me.
. School ended early and I walked to the parking lot keeping to myself. I went around the lot looking for my car each looking identical. But I decided to walk home. I started to feel sick. I walked to the front of the school the sky was still a gloomy grey. I crossed the street with the rest of the students who began to cross in clumps. I looked ahead and noticed a familiar tie die shirt. She strolled away from the crowds the sky above her began to clear up and I began to feel better. She moved flawlessly and I couldn’t help but follow, she was fast.
Ahead I noticed a house. She made her way towards the door of the house. It had an unusual placement of windows.
I couldn’t help but look through one of the windows I peeked through gripping the windows ledge and saw a small bedroom.
The walls where painted a baby pink with two beds and tons of pictures posted on the walls. I have never seen a room so unique.
I walked the rest of the way home. The house seemed to be less cold than usual. I went to my bedroom and sat on the bed looking around.
Why was my room so plain, why was everything in are town so alike.
I ran down to the attic. I turned on my flashlight looking into the dark for paint I stored when we moved in. my parents seemed to put every unused item in the attic.
But I couldn’t ask them now. They where still on their trip. I
Went back upstairs and grabbed the keys to the car I guess I will have to buy some.
I went to local tool store and went to the counter
“Hi, do you sell paint”
A greasy looking man looked up
“Of course we have paint, come with me”
He made his way to the back of store as I followed him.
“Your welcome”
He said not giving me a chance to say thank you.
I gave him a small nod and looked at there tiny selection.
I whispered each paint colors name out loud.
“Eggshell white, beige, tan, mud green”
I looked disappointed at each can.
Don’t they have anything with a little more color I thought to myself?
I heard a giggle behind me.
“You want something with a little more color don’t you?”
I turned around surprised
It was an old man with kind looking eyes
“How did you know?” I asked
He had a big grin on his face. He handed me a card with an address on it and disappeared before I could ask more questions.
