The Kidnapping of Matty

It was another ordinary day for Matty. Get up, shower, go to work. At least he thought today was like any other day but he soon discovered otherwise. On his way to work he stopped by the coffee shop for his regular latte and muffin. As he went to leave the door abruptly swung into him knocking him onto the ground. When he looked up he found himself in an unpleasant situation, a gun was pointed directly at his head. “Don’t try to resist or I will hurt you” said the crook. Matty had shown he agreed to cooperate with the man. Moments later a bag was pulled over his face and he was carried out into a vehicle.
Matty was full of confusion, he had no idea why someone would take him hostage. As they drove Matty realized they were getting close to the edge of town and turning onto a dirt road. Shortly after they arrived at an abandoned building, Matty still unable to see was placed on a chair with this hands tied behind his back. He began to panic as he didn’t know what was going to happen next. “What do you want from me?” he asked but he got silence in return. As he sat there he noticed the smell of saw dust and a lot of vehicles as if they were by a high way. Matty thought they must be at an old mill on the outer part of town.
The man who took him finally told him that he had taken him because he knew about Matty and his brother’s fortune due to their parents death when they were young allowing them to inherit the fortune. He said that he knew his younger brother would pay any ransom as it was the only family he had left. The man then said he had to go get a few things and would return soon. “Don’t go running off now”, he said sarcastically then chuckled. As the door shut Matty began wiggling around trying to figure out how to escape before the kidnapper was back. He tried to loosen the rope by twisting is hands around for a while. The rope still as tight as before Matty realized that wasn’t going to work so he conjured up a new plan. He began rocking the chair back and forth until bam. Finally knocked over he began sliding backwards until he made contact with the wall. When he finally reached the wall he then slid along it until he came across a corner. He then began rubbing the rope against the corner in hopes that that would free him in time to make his escape.
Finally Matty was free. He removed the bag from his face and quickly made his way to the door. As he reached the door he noticed he was locked in from the outside. Looking around he saw no other exit. Now he had to think fast on how to break or remove the lock. He began to fidget with the number combination. After numerous failed attempts it was time for plan B. He went to the nearest boarded up window and began pulling at the boards. The first one finally snapped and one after the other. As the last board was coming off the window a car pulled up, then another. Confused he wondered as to why a second vehicle showed up. Acting quickly Matty searched the building for any type of protection available to whomever had arrived. Lying on the ground a few feet from him was a metal bar, he picked it up and grasped it tightly. Matty wasn’t going to go down without a fight. He ran to the door to hide behind it and catch them off guard. As the door opened and he began to raise his arms ready to swing he dropped the bar in relief. It was his brother and the police. He was saved.
“Didn’t think I’d let some chump take our money now do you?” said Kyle his brother with a smirk on his face. “But how did you know where I would be?” Matty asked confused but relieved. “When your boss said you hadn’t come in yet and I didn’t spot you or your vehicle along the route to your work I figured something must have been up. I then headed to the police station and upon my arrival I received a phone call for ransom, the caller was easily traced by the police.” His brother had explained. After Matty was examined for any damage he and his brother were able to head home. Matty had never been more grateful to see his brother than he did at that moment when being saved. As they drove away Matty realized today was most certainly no ordinary day.
