Ms. Pagan
Ms. Pagan
The person I would like to nominate as Educator of the year is Ms. Lucy Pagan. She is the science teacher for sixth and seventh at Jewett School of the Arts.
To me, an educator is vitally important to my success in school. A good teacher demonstrates confidence and instills it in her students. Ms. Pagan is very sweet, patient and kind hearted. She makes everyone feel comfortable from the first day of class. I was unsure about how I felt about science until I got to her class. Seeing her enjoy teaching us about our lab experiments made me want to learn more. She always encourages her students to ask questions at any time. She is always willing to provide her personal time as well.
Im ashamed to say that during the school year, I began to pay more attention to my fellow class mates than to her lessons. As is her way, she pulled me aside and talked about my socializing one on one instead of embarrassing me in front of my piers. She politely suggested that I move to another seat in the room. She wanted me to be successful so she allowed me to take home a textbook so I could finish my assignments.
Looking back, I am glad that she confronted me.I got myself back on track with my schoolwork and raised my grade. Sometimes you need someone, other than your parents, to show you your mistakes. Ms. Pagan is an aspect to JSA and a great role model for her students.

Maybe it's not about the happy ending, maybe it's about the story.
