Do you believe in love in high school? Could it possibly exist?

No way, kids don't know what true love is... But, how many people do you know that dated in high school that are currently married and happy? I personally know about 4 couples very very well that are now happy after being high school sweethearts. Did they just like each other as teens and grow to love each other? When did the "like" change to "love?" In college? Age 21? 22?23? Or could they possibly have loved each other all along?

How can you put an age on love?

I, personally, believe in teenage love. I truly think it exists. Adults that did not fall in love till they were, in fact, adults, will most likely dismiss it. However, some - like my mother, for instance - do not dismiss teenage love. Do you?

I definetly agree with all the positive comments. I do believe that anyone can be in love from 5th grade to 8th grade to high school, love is love. && it cannot be defined let alone even judged. i am currently dealing with a situation like this, but im keeping my faith and trying to look to the positive, but it really sucks that everybody feels they have to have an opinion about your relationship, and im out of high school and in college! i understand parents dont want you to make "the same mistake they made" but in our defense, we wont be able to learn from there mistakes, we have to learn from our own, if in fact we are making a mistake. If not, it will feel good to prove them all wrong!

I for one think that teens can be in love! I'm dating a boy and I have been going out with him for a whole year and no this is not puppy love. It's somethin special. I mean everytime he touches me I get butterflies all in my stomach and every feeling that people say they have about their true love is what i feel for my boyfriend. I'M IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I AM IN LOVE! Plus I am so tired of my mom sayin your only in high school, take it slow when in fact she married my dad which, of course, was her high school sweetheart

That is exactly what I think. I believe teenage love is awkward at most times, but in a way that it should be. We learn how to love everyday. We learn about ourselves and what the other person needs. There are many people today that have spent years loving each other and have grown upon learning in their relationships.

thank you!!! i happen to know a great many couples who are happily married out of highschool, including a large part of my family. anyone who says teenagers cant feel love is foolish. you can put an age limit on some things, but not love. finally an article that isnt dealing with why teenagers shouldnt think they're in love... i get so sick of those. i mean, they're all well written, but if read those, it's easy to think that love doesnt exist and you'll never trust anyone. follow your heart~

I agree with your opinion. I don't think you can put an age on love, you can fall in love at any age, including when your in high school :)

Some say the world will end in fire;
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

I think love is possible in high school too. I think that it doesn't really matter how old you are and you know that you are love with someone that it doesn't matter what other people think

I feel like im in love with this guy named jacob. We have been together for almost 6 months and i have very strong feelings for him. We have broken up twice now but always seem to find ourselves back in eachothers arms. So is this teenage love? Or lust?

If you can't do it, try again. The only way you'll be able to accomplish anything is if you believe you can... so what's impossible? Nothing is impossible.

I believe in teenage love, why? Because I was one. I fell in love with my boyfriend when we started dating at age 14. Of course it took time to love him, but I know what love is. It's when you look at someone in the eyes and all you can see/ feel is them. When you hear their name your heart pounds. When you see them, everyone else is out of sight. And when you're with them, you never want to say goodbye. Unfortunately good things always come to an end. He and I broke up after almost 3 years of dating. We started growing apart which happens. Life happens. But as they say: "You can drive at 16, vote at 18, and drink at 21.... yet, there is no set age to following in love." It does not matter the age, the time, or the person... love... happens.

I am currently in the 8th grade and one of my closest friends is only 12 years old and claims she is in love with her guy. I keep trying to tell her that she isn't going to find love in the eighth grade, but she refuses to believe so. I wish I could feel what she feels so I could know if she truly is in love or if she is mistaking love for a silly little crush... I don't know what to think.

That's somewhat in the area of my point. Love isn't necessarily immediate; I don't believe in "love at first sight." I think, judging by my own life, that true, mature, adult love is quite possible at a younger age. Why not? Maturity is maturity.

Love isn't something that just happens. It's something that grows and continues to do so by day. When you say "When did like become love" you really can't pin point exactly when that was because you can't. A teenager can have affection for another and they can grow a love within each other. But the thing is, you have to be mature to truely love someone. How mature are two teenagers going to be? You may be willing to die for that person but are you willing to make other sacrifices that, though they aren't as dramatic, are still important? Everyone has different views on love. Infatuation is very common among teenager. Sometimes love is a shy flower waiting for the perfect ray of sunlight to coax it out of it's bud. Either way, love is something that blooms with time.
