Separated
Lying on the couch
Staring at the clock
Waiting by the door
To hear that little knock
It’s finally heard
And the first thing I see
Is Daddy coming in
And dropping to his knees
I run up and hug him
For everything’s okay
Not knowing that this
Would be the last day
Momma comes in
And pulls Daddy aside
Whispering to each other
I see them start to cry
Drowning in their tears
Trying not to show
How hard it was to hear
That Daddy had to go
He sat me down on the couch
And explained what was wrong
Then looked at me and said
“It won’t be too long.”
? ? ?
Lying on the couch
Staring at the clock
Waiting by the door
To hear that little knock
I tried to stay positive
Every day was the same
The clock kept on ticking
But the knock never came
