The bars of the cage
conceal the comfort
of its open door.
Though my years will stretch beyond,
hope still has risen.
Yet it is very hard to see
past these obscuring bars.
But through clenched fists
I find I resist
the oppression of the cage
I've found myself in.
I take note of the open door
Set flight and
voila
I am trapped no more.
