Pierced Lies
In the haste and flurry of student feet
Our shadows huddled in secret between damp mops and sponges,
Chlorine penetrating our nostrils
Giselle’s face was a statue, still as a windless night
Her pupils dilated at the ringing of my words:
“He did it with ease,
His promises to you, non-existent”
The grim silence was deafening
But the shatter of her heart, echoed in my thoughts
I felt shards penetrate through my palms
And the blood began to trickle down,
Pooling on the floor, in that
Dim lighted room
This piece exemplifies the modern struggles and issues of maintaining a truth-based relationship in high school. It also demonstartes the power of lies and manipulation.
