A Princess Always
I used to wish
Everything would go my way
Like a fairytale princess
Just relaxing all day
The sun beating down
On my long pretty hair
I wouldn’t have to think
I wouldn’t have a single care
But then I realized
That could never take place
Life’s not like a fairytale
Most of it’s a disgrace
With pain and sadness
And pointless confusion
Disappointments and worries
That can lead to depression
As I was thinking about
All the moments of woe
I stopped myself from bringing
Myself down so low
I said “I know life’s not great,
But I at least have to try
To make it the best
And try not to cry”
So from then on I looked
At every moment with care
And tried to find happiness
I knew it had to be there
I looked past all the hard times
And the upset and pain
I found all the goodness
Even in things like rain
So now I am happy
To be who I am
If you try to stop me
I just don’t give a damn
