september 11th ballad
“The towers, the towers, the towers are falling!”
Smoke quickly escapes the city
And makes it hard to see and breathe
Loved ones waiting outside are in pure pity
Less than 10 minutes ago the city was in peace
Many lives will never be the same
This country has been changed
And is in complete shame
What can happen next?
Our innocent country is under attack
With innocent people are in that building and plane
And it can’t be taken back
Everyone is franticly grabbing their phones
Trying to call all of their family and friends
I hear a dozen ‘I love you’s
As people are making their last amends
People are sprinting to and from
To see what happened or to find protection
The whole country is in waiting
Absolute strangers grab each other and show infection
From the building you can hear crumbling and pungent screeches
The city approaches complete silence
And all of a sudden, a little boy preaches
“The people, the people, the people are falling!”
