My future father
I appreciate the times you sacrifice
But it's time for you to rest
And stop rolling the dice
Decide what to sacrifice
There is no longer a reason to manifest
You tried to be the best for us
Your hands are now fragile as glass
They now require my assist
It is now time to give me the responsibility and pass
You no longer have a reason to persist
Those rough dry hands with cuts
Have now healed and must relax
You’ve demonstrated your guts
You’ve have had your drawbacks
Your bruises have healed
You’ve crossed borders and failed
But I never saw you kneeled
You crossed despite being jailed
A goodbye to your mother was painful
Your family said goodbye as they were left behind
But now it's time to show how grateful
Your children were now in your mind
The lifting of constant weight cost your back
Work countless hours with not much rest
The times you’ve kept me on the right track
The countless times I saw you it would hurt my chest
You became the best for us
We were a reason for you to suffer
As we would have all we needed
But in the end, it made you tougher
And for us you still lifted
Of course, it would sometimes be chaotic
Complications caused us to eat each other's throat
We would both be sick
But aside from that, we were on the same boat
It is now time to give you my coat
Worrying about me must no longer be
It was always your coat that kept me warm and I must devote
It's now time to repay what you once did for me
I'm no longer that boy but rather a man
I’m the man you wanted me to become
But I still behave as the same boy when I began
I’m no longer feeling at the bottom
This is your life I re-tell,
The pain was not imaginary.
I would never want to say farewell,
But eventually, we will be at the cemetery.
You were the best for us
I guess this is everything you wanted me to become
The only life you get to live as you choose to raise us
All those problems are gone as you overcome
And having us smiling was a bonus.
