He was in God's hands
Before his mother ever held him in hers
The only wails heard from the hospital room
Were those of his mother
As she wept and pleaded
For him to just take a breath
For him to strangle out his first cry
But that breath and that cry never came
His mother carried him with a full heart
But empty arms
