Favorite Quote:
And one day, the girl with the books became the woman writing them.

Red for the valor of all,

For the bravery of those who stood tall,

To recognize the ones who did fall,

To give us all our freedom.

White for hearts strong and pure.

We recognize them for all they endured.

All of those people are honored for sure,

Because they gave us freedom.

Blue ‘cause we keep going on,

Throughout the night from dusk until dawn,

Although it grew hard, we kept going strong,

Until we got our freedom.

The flag flies so free,

above you and me,

And now you can see:

The flag shows so much freedom.

The author's comments:

This is actually the first poem that I wrote. It was for a fifth grade English assignment, but looking back on it now, it isn't actually to bad. This was the piece that got me really into poetry, and now three years later I think I've improved a lot. It's interesting to see how someone's writing style can change and improve over time.

This is a poem for Flag Day.
