Rejection
It hurts
I’m hurt and upset over something that never even happened
Over something that never was going to happen
You were perfect
Heartache after heartache
Then I found you
You were everything that wanted in someone
Everything about you was so infatuating
Curiouser and curiouser by the days spent talking to you
One day I had the audacity to ask who was it that you were infatuated by?
As you kept describing them it sounded a lot like myself
Until you told me their name
Everything froze and shattered then I walked away
With the fragments of my heart in my hand
I tried to move on
But failed to do so
One day I thought if I told you and actually get rebuked I would get over you
I did so and finally got my answer
The No I knew was coming
Though I knew the bullet was coming I didn’t dodge it in time
You tried to let me down slow yet still managed to push me down hard
One day I’ll be over it but until I figure out how to put my heart together again
I’m still hurt
Slowly but surely I’ll be able to fix it

Don’t keep holding on, sometimes what you’re holding on to I exactly what you need to let go of
