Autumn Sunset Melody
Scattered hues of amber fall from an azure sky
The wind whispers through these hidden strings, a faint breath of life to whatever is left
Shattered dots of rust scrape against the asphalt road
I can feel all the little things, within these brief moments of rest
How do you feel sitting with me
Gazing upon this season's call
The hills, the lights, the stars shine free
Up here we can see it all
Paint the land to whatever you like
This canvas is never-ending
And I want to see it shine.
The bright sun sets with my final notes
This melody fades to nothing
But everything will still be fine.
The lake’s reflection is more vivid and bright
The leaves hide everything with vibrancy, nature’s dissonant harmony
My eyes are guided by the light of the moon
The scents of the town start to embrace me with a pumpkin spice symphony
What do you think standing with me
Embracing this season’s aura
I hear the music weaving through the trees
I smell the bitter flora
Paint the land to whatever you like
Your brush is a miracle to my eyes
the world that you'll make is sublime.
And the sun sets with my final notes
My song dissolves into an arpeggio
As the bells of the church start to chime.
In this autumn ephemeral time.

I wrote this poem because my favorite season is autumn. When I walk home from school or spend time outside with my friends, the scenes of vivid leaves and brisk wind, and activities such as pumpkin lattes or going to music festivals are some of my most beautiful memories.
