The boy who only exists within the stars
He grips my hand and squeezes. The familiar warmth of his body transfers to mine, it fills my heart. I missed you.
“Did you know what happened yesterday?”
“No, what?”
“I looked into the stars and I felt you, just like you told me.”
“If you feel alone, that is where I'll be, waiting for you to find me.”
My eyes reach his and my face begins to tingle. The salted tears drop onto my favourite nightgown. His head slowly disappears.
“Do you think I’ll ever see you again?”
“Yes. The next lifetime perhaps?”
“I’ll settle for that. Promise to find me again?”
He holds out his left pinky, the only one still visible.
I’d stay there forever. Pinkies connecting, until mine is the only one remaining.
