A Mental Battle
A glance from the outside.
A life filled with loving friends and family.
A family showing unconditional love.
A blue boy receiving unconditional love.
The look from the inside,
hidden in plain sight like the sad gray waves in an endless sea.
The brain corrupted by the intrusive thoughts of depression,
the gray feeling suppressing his surroundings.
Why do I feel this way?
Constant pain bleeding through his brain,
gasping for breaths of happiness.
I don’t want to be here anymore.
When will it end?
The thoughts sure to stick all day.
Therapists and family are sure to clear the pain.
So they say.
So I tried and tried
Surely there is no way!
I battled and battled the pain away.
And so I lived to see many more days.
