Riding The Pine
i hear the growl of cars going by
the deep animal like sound of the engines as they past
i smell the flowers at the height of their bloom
their colors like fire against the dark green grass
i taste the rain in the air,
a burden for all the thirsty plants that are waiting
i feel the sidewalk underneath me
the trail that mankind paved into the earth
it makes me think of the earth slowly revolving
the idea that night is arriving shortly washes over all beings
i feel my clothes hugging against my skin
as a cool breeze arrives from the north
i sit on a bench as i think about these things
and the bench welcomes my thoughts as i rest there
