Falling Leaves
The world seems to fall apart,
friendships no longer last,
obsession of others’ opinions grows,
families lose connection,
and still,
the leaves fall.
Stress rises,
all the homework,
all the losses,
all the useless effort,
and still,
the leaves fall.
She’s mad again,
made another mistake,
the orange ball misses that red rim,
yet it still bounces,
and still,
the leaves fall.
The leaves become a beautiful blood color,
to a dirty orange,
to a broken brown,
they will grow back even better soon,
and still,
the leaves will fall again.
The leaves fall still,
but they’ll be back,
it will be okay,
keep going,
keep working hard on what you love,
don’t mind the leaves.

This piece serves as a reminder to stay optimistic through difficult times in life. Our own minds are the only things giving power to the issues in our lives, so it is important to remember that and that everything will work out in the end. Problems come and go in life, and that is okay.
