Time
Alone I sit,
Battling with my wits,
Who knew one second,
Is all a heart needs to make a hit?
So now I sit with you,
With our moods ever so blue.
You say there’s no need to whine,
That you “won’t really cross that line.”
But you never know for certain,
Especially when all we know is hidden behind a curtain.
You think you’ll be fine,
But the world isn’t always so kind.
So I will sit and cry,
Since you really did run out of time.

Hello! I wrote this shortly after a close friend of mine passed in July of 2020, but never got around to publishing it till now. I wrote it from the perspective of myself, wishing I had a chance for a proper goodbye, and not the quick "See you later” I had said to her the day prior. My hope for anyone who reads this is for them to always treasure every greeting and every goodbye cause even if it’s the last hello, you should always treasure them in your memories cause they can leave just as quick as they appeared.
