Cycle
Sun rises moon sets
Wolf hunts man frets
Sickle, circle, cycle, scythe
All living creatures writhe
Round and round, turns the sun
Wheeling in its ring it runs
Runs the elk from the wolf
Whose cursed name was once ulf
Now is new, now is chang’d
Yet is the same, it is remain’d
Sun rises moon sets
Wolf hunts man frets
Sickle, circle, cycle, scythe
All living creatures writhe
Grows and grows does the wheat
Golden glows, tastes so sweet
Prays the priest to great God
He who is the holy rod
Prays for rain, prays for grace
Kneels beneath the sacred place
North and South, flies the bird
Harsh cold land they desert
Seeking warmth, seeking health
Man stays put hoarding wealth
Elk call out, stomp on ice
All are proud it is our vice
Sun rises moon sets
Wolf hunts man frets
Sickle, circle, cycle, scythe
All living creatures writhe
Whale in water, whale on land
Never learning, drinking sand
Beach and breath, salty air
Forgetfulness, cold blank stare
How the mind rolls down hill
Tumbling faster ‘til is nil
Round and round the cycle spins
Beaten down to grow again
One to next as before
Men never keeping what they swore
Always war, always hate
Seems to be their dreadful fate
Rusts the steel, warp and bend
Hands of man, do they mend?
They strike they kill
They hit they steal
Smell the blood, and see the flame
Know the dead, and cast your blame!
Sun rises moon sets
Wolf hunts man frets
Sickle, circle, cycle, scythe
All living creatures writhe
Broke the cycle! ‘Tis the end!
Fate of gods, their death send!
What has caused this drastic tear?
Awful, vile Fimbulvetr!
Take up arms every nation
Fight the worlds’ culmination!
Broke the cycle! ‘Tis the end!
Fate of gods their death send!
Wolf devours sun and moon
Heimdall blows his lonely tune
Fenrir free! Hel’s boat sails
Made from many dead men’s nails.
Dead is Odin, dead is Thor
Gone all good, hope no more
Burning, churning, fighting, blood
Serpent loosed, all is gone!
Fighting’s over, no one's won
But there is Vidar, Odin’s son!
There he stands so tall and pale
He’s split Fenrir head to tail!
Fresh new start, new world grows
Peaceful cycle boldly flows.

Norse mythology and Warduna's song "Solringen" heavily inspired me while writing this piece.
