Hazy Memory
Roads lead directly forward
towards a destination that doesn’t matter
Small rocks have eroded away from the surface
that crunch beneath each step
While the crisp rustling of leaves joins the soundscape
Casual conversations between two or three speak calmly
about things that don’t matter
It just sounds along in nice rhythms
making the way even more pleasant
Birds echo their sharp calls from anywhere
Coming into view for a short moment
darting out of sight just as quickly as they came
The walk is over in a moment
Meaning nothing except a path between
But it meant everything now
