Harmony in the Air
Marching up to one of the final sets
of the show, a cool breeze against the stadium field,
clouds cover bits of the sun, masking the warmth,
leaving the area feeling like the first bite
of a fresh stick of mint gum,
as everyone hits the set, you hear the trumpets
echo off the thick concrete walls and each
hit of the drums ricochet right back to your ears,
Chills take over your body as the crowd erupts
like a volcano, eyes begin to flush with water
witnessing the clapping and cheering,
the peak of the show,
the cold air dried up tears leaving hearts racing,
a moment that felt like 20,000 butterflies being set loose
in your stomach, cherishing every moment
for experiencing the feeling of being on cloud nine,
where goosebumps scatter across you,
a sensation like scratching off the winning lottery ticket.
