The Truth is a Broken Drum
The truth
is a broken drum,
which is to say
people are dumb.
Speaking the truth
can be quite risky,
concerning those who
are soft, not frisky.
Our society
is solely broken,
and only few
are truly awoken.
The days march on
like a beating drum,
each step a beat,
but only heard by some.
Every time I try
it's always,
"She wants to cry,"
"His stupid job pays,"
"They think we'll die!"
All of this
without a hint of sanity,
and when I'm in doubt
they act like it's profanity.
When they do
finally accept the truth,
the viewpoint is new
and rattles the golden tooth.
Once you've awoken
there's no going back,
for the truth has been spoken
and ingrained like a tack.

I wrote this piece because my views of the world tend to stand out, especially for my age. I want more people to think critically rather than be like everyone else and accept their current viewpoint.
