Perfect Pair
Always a perfect pair,
But what if there's a tear?
Socks, expected to be identical
Nothing can be different, not even a little.
When the perfect pair finally gets a tear,
It causes doubt and despair.
Ultimate panic arises,
But for the un-torn sock, this is winning prizes.
What a disappointment, its value is now less than
It can’t do its job, not even for a simple man.
Expectations are still high,
Now might be a good chance to say goodbye.
There may be a better solution,
When well thought out, there are other choices.
A quick fix with a patch will add uniqueness,
A decision that will improve your life.
The perfect pair has changed its identity,
But to some they stand out in the drawer.
They don’t have to be discarded or pushed aside,
Because sometimes it’s okay to be a mismatched sock.
