The Haunting of Birds and Rain inspired by Will Barnet’s 'Study for a Dream'
Rain trickles down from the sky hitting my house,
but all I can think about are the birds.
They won’t leave me alone.
I’ve stopped dreaming. WHY WON’T THEY LEAVE ME ALONE??
I walk up to the window and it’s pouring rain,
but the sky's still blue.
How is that even possible?
The birds are still here.
My hands on my cheek, not knowing what’s happening.
I can see the birds flying over my head.
I try to swat them away like flies, but
the birds are faster than me.
My neighbor is walking her dog looking confused.
Wait, why isn’t she wearing a raincoat?
Isn’t it pouring rain outside?
I see her grab her phone and wave goodbye to me.
That was the day I got sent away.
I still see the birds,
I still think it’s pouring rain.
I still wonder,
what’s wrong with me?
