Rhythm
Rhythm
The flow of everything.
Balance,
Balance between toms and cymbals on the drum set.
Balance between being a kid and all of the school work and activities that everyone does.
Most of the time I feel like I made the wrong decision.
The balance between toms and cymbals,
but you play the cymbals for too long and don’t use the toms.
It seems bad, but sometimes you don’t have an option.
Overwhelmingly procrastinating, becoming behind.
The whole band is thrown off balance,
All because you couldn’t keep up.
Being drowned out in the sound,
Knowing you can’t save yourself.
Then tuning everything else out,
Just feeling the music, really feeling it.
Finally getting back on track, trying to save your grade.
Trying not to let everyone down, keeping up appearances,
But never telling anyone what is really happening.
Thinking about finishing the song, will it end up okay,
Or will you just be drowned out and disappoint everyone.
Upset friends and parents, and then trying to communicate,
But not knowing if you want to say the whole truth or just the part that matters.
Balance is hard to find, or at least keep.
