first love/early winter
fell like snowflakes,
expected to drift down and melt on city concrete,
cradled into hands that were willing, equally so,
bundled tight in jackets with red ears and numb fingertips.
trusted so unequivocally and without a single doubt.
marred by an inconvenience of inexperience, like a first snow.
wishing to spend more time in company,
working towards a common goal of satisfaction.
listened to silence, basking in “warmth.”
took every recommendation to heart, music and tv.
saw life cinematically and poetically, as artists of our story, for once.
created something extraordinary, observed as “almost without flaw,”
and as natural as the change in seasons.
