9/11: A day in the life
The sky
A dark black mixed with red and orange from a fire
The voices
Screams and cries coming from mouths of all ages
Tears coming down from people there and watching at home
A man lost
A woman gone
A family separated
They didn’t know that that morning would be the last day to say goodbye
It was an ordinary day
Drinking coffee in the morning
A kiss goodbye
You’re just a pilot they said
Or an office man
What can happen
A call in the morning
That thought is no longer
Shattered by the voice of an army official
Kids come home from school
Their mother or father is crying broken down
They know what happened
All schools are out early
All roads are closed
The TV suddenly becomes a haunting figure
No one dares to turn it on
Eight years later
She still looks at the pictures
She still looks at the time
Whenever it strikes 9:11 the thought comes back
It seems like she isn’t affected
But on that day
She breaks down
Just another girl separated from a family member
Or a friend
Never to be seen again.
