Upon Release
I foresee a darkened future,
Brought on by horrific habits.
Green grass and white clouds.
Doesn’t it sound delightful?
Drugs dictating your decisions,
Little lines living your life,
Instead of you living your own.
Took a twisted turn, didn’t it?
Hope he keeps his word,
To stay away from the yay.
I guess it can’t be too bad,
Tweaking to get more everyday.
Hope for only the best,
For this home to become whole.
But expect the worst,
Expect for his addictions to burst.
But what if it turns out good?
Let’s say it goes the way it should.
Guess it’s time for the ex-con,
To pass up the criminal baton.
Looks like life,
Would turn out terrific.
Maybe not rainbows and butterflies,
But I’ll look up,
And see clear blue skies.
At least that’s what I hope.
