In the Blink of an Eye
Cold winter day,
Grass glazed by ice.
Young little kids,
Out and ready to play.
Slip and sliding,
On the frozen rink.
Something could happen,
In just a blink.
Teachers nowhere around,
Just youngins on a playground.
That’s why they say,
Ice isn’t anything to play on.
Finally spotted by one,
So she shouts
“Get off of there,
Before you get hurt.”
Always wondered how,
How can I get hurt?
Feet flat on the ground,
What can go wrong?
Only takes one step,
To fall on your face.
At least that the way,
It happened for me.
Walking slowly to the edge,
Unaware of my fate.
Loss of my footing,
Forces me forward.
Face says, “Hello”
To the ground below.
Standing up starry-eyed,
World turned upside-down.
Blood blurs my vision,
Surprised by the lack of pain.
Tiny little scar,
Reminds me of my stupidit
