The Joy of Dance

Feet glide,
across smooth wooden floors.
Head held high,
music leading every move.
Stretch up,
to the moon and the stars.
Embrace pain,
Shove back against the floor.
Leap, soar,
see yourself in the mirror.
Beautiful, free,
never want to come down.
Liberated,
take a breath, release.
Things confining,
are now bursting free.
It’s over,
your joy overflows.
Heart drums,
full of passion and fire.
