The Dark
I remember when
I was little.
There were monsters
Under my bed,
In my closet
And in the shadowed
Corners.
They watched me then.
So
I had a night light.
When I grew older,
I was less afraid of the dark
So the light was taken.
There was only darkness.
It encased me
Drove me crazy
With nightmares.
I woke up more tired
Than when I had went to
Bed.
I curled my body
Afraid of the
Monster under my
Bed.
It came back from
My childhood.
My closet is a host
To a monster,
And every
Shadowed
CorneR
Holds
FEAR
Itself.
You’ve never seen
A horror movie
They ask.
No
Why add to the darkness
That encases my room?
Encases me.
I always think
That there is someone
Something
Watching me.
Waiting for the moment
But when I turn on the lights
There is
Nothing.
No monsters.
No shadows.
Fear had left
The corners of my room.
Do you know why
I fear the dark?
I know what happens
At night.
People are taken
Houses are broken
Fires are lit.
Can’t that happen
In the morning?
Well
Yes.
But in the light
I am Safe
Seen
Protected.
But what IF
One day
The light is
No longer shining?
The Darkness
Will come for me.
