My Name May Last Forever
Clacking of keys,
Scratching of lead,
My soul feels at ease,
Of these words in which I have bled.
And it saddens my heart,
for I know of those who cannot read,
That of which keeps me from tearing apart,
Causes some to lie down, unfreed.
True, is it, that I am lucky to write
For others cannot, they are too weak or too poor,
While I can save my name in all I cite,
They become nothing but dust on their government’s floor.
