The Hopes of Rising
We’re warned to keep our dreams on a leash
“unrealistic expectations can lead to fatality”
Is what I have written thousands of times-
in the thesis of my literary essays.
and no matter how many times I hear it or read it,
it doesn’t ring true.
Why am I not allowed to dream big?
because I say the bigger your dreams and the bigger your fight
the bigger you are as a person.
