sailing
A turbulent sky hangs like a dagger
raised to strike me.
Drizzles of rain paint my hull clean.
A puff of air dies out
as it is drowned in warm Florida rain.
Water dances in the crevice of water that I traverse.
Other than the choreographed display before me,
everything is still.
The depravation of vision strikes me
when sheets of mist fall from the heavens
I feel the growing urgency to return home,
a warm haven to which I can retreat to
a driving force in a stormy river
other boats fleeing home look like giants
looming out of the shadows like monsters
and I alone trapped in an abyss of rain and waves.
