Is It Magic?
“Is this magic,” she asks me
With hope in her eyes
Wonder glistens
Like the stars in the sky
“Magic?” I ask with a laugh
“It is if you believe
But be careful, young girl
It can be dangerous to dream”
Confusion washes over her
“What do you mean?
If your heart is in control
You can dream anything”
“The world is not kind
To people who hope, my dear”
But I refuse to tell her
That I’m only stating my fear
When I was a child
Just like this girl
I used to truly believe
There was good in this world
I used to believe in Magic
In every possibility
But then the darkness came in
And swept my dreams away from me
“Magic is real” she tells me
“Just look around
It’s in the air you breathe
And the grass on the ground.”
“I know you’re lying
And you know it too
When you say that was a coincidence
Because you saw what just grew.”
I look back at the plant
That grew higher than the clouds
We both thought the same thing
She said, “There’s no better time than now.”
So we climbed through clouds
Straight through the sky
The world is so small
When you’re up so high
As the wind blew my hair
Happiness was all I could feel
My dreams were no longer broken
Magic is real
