Attracted to the Light
When we first met,
Happiness surged through my blood,
Making my heart pound like a
Buzzing beehive.
But oh, have times changed.
You broke me, altered my being
Like a dragonfly with a broken wing
Crippled and unable to fly
Listening to the sounds of cicadas
On that warm summer morning
Brought me no comfort
For I knew that I, once again,
Returned into your arms.
Like worker bees obeying their queen.
Each time I forgive you,
I feel like a dimwitted fly.
Attracted to the light it could never contain.
