I watched you run downhill
And crash into the ground.
You went through hell and back,
And I couldn't save you.

Don't try to find me here;
I left a long time ago
For the life I now know.

You know I'd hold my breath

The author's comments:
We all know of that one person we wanted to save, just to find that no matter what we do, they will retain their self-destructive behavior. This song was written to help such brave humanitarians remember that we cannot control another person's actions and have no other option than to let go.
