The Two Sides of Me
The sun, the shadow,
both represented in one being.
The traits we try to keep
everyone from seeing.
The shining of some gold,
the dullness of raw lead.
The sweetness of an apple
versus a sour Lemon Head.
Yellow shows someone is happy
while anger is shown in red.
Fleece is oh-so soft
while sandpaper’s rough instead.
A diamond- bright and sharp,
or a rock- so dull and boring.
Monkeys do such funny things
while sloths just leave you snoring.
They might seem like opposites,
but they are inside of us.
Our shadow can cloud our sun
without putting up much fuss.
