Another Day

November 25, 2012

With only fifty two weeks in a year,
There's so little but so much time,
Time that we have spent by ourselves
And so few in our prime.
But in those weeks I met you
You threw my past away,
And honestly I can't downplay
How I felt that day.

And in those first long six weeks,
I hadn't seen the light of day.
I waited here for something new,
Always walking down the way.
But when the seventh came around,
I saw your smiling face.
You changed the world and my whole life
And there's nothing that I could say, but

Thank you,
For every day you've given me.
Thank you,
For all the time you've shared.
So many things in life I dared,
But in the end nothing compared, so
Thank you
For the light of another day.

By the time the eighth had gotten near
I didn't know how I could say
How I had felt, what brought me here,
And how I was beginning to fear
These emotions deep inside me,
I cried, "What could they be?"
They felt so new and they felt so strong
So how could they be wrong?

As the months had passed I found myself
Slowly coming off the shelf.
I was becoming free, I was becoming me
I was all that I could be.
The flame had grown between us,
Though it was amorous,
At least for me but not for you
But there's nothing I want to do, except say

Thank you,
For every day you've given me.
Thank you,
For all the time you've shared.
So many things in life I dared,
But in the end nothing compared, so
Thank you
For the light of another day.

Thank you,
For every day you've given me.
Thank you,
For all the time you've shared.
So many things in life I dared,
But in the end nothing compared, so
Thank you
For the light of another day.

That late August sun.
The lives we had run.
The things we said we never said before,
Held in us to the core.
That bright shining moon.
The days I would swoon,
And in both our hearts, we held the dying
Secrets of a morning score.

But it doesn't matter anymore,
You're the one whom for this I bore,
The secret lives of you and I
That I will hold until I die.

Thank you,
For every day you've given me.
Thank you,
For all the time you've shared.
So many things in life I dared,
But in the end nothing compared, so
Thank you,
For the light of another day.
