Ashes no more
Safe are my lips, and safe is my tongue
Wind helps them dance, their song must be sung
Scattering the dust to make warm the cold room
Painting white the dark and so flowers will bloom
Singing ashes no more
Ashes no more
Ashes no more
Ashes no more my darling
See then how the leaves, wooden their home
Afraid yet at peace, where they are blown
The thunder roars only to wish you be well
Afraid you won’t hear him that’s why he must yell
Singing ashes no more
Ashes no more
Ashes no more
Ashes no more my darling
Thankful the woods, and thankful am I
I will hold you, till calm is the night
Darling know the love that I give you is true
For I was once a child and I was scared to
Ashes no more
Ashes no more
Ashes no more my darling
I wrote this originally as a lullaby, and I am currently working on music to go with it.
