Ode to Bode
My Bodhi, unique is a nice way to put it
Bodhi, you are different, Bodhi
You are odd, Bodhi
You are distinct, Bodhi
You are insane, Bodhi
You are unpredictable, Bodhi
But, Bodhi, you are not alone.
You are not alone because I vowed to never allow that.
Because the first time I saw you, alone in a cage vastly bigger than your 3 month frame
Rejected by numerous others
Smooth black fur with an undercoat of stereotypes
I swear, I will do anything to keep that frightened yet hopeful look off your face for as long as you live, Bodhi.
Your snaggle tooth is caught on my heart and your paws leave permanent impressions on my body, Bodhi
When you purr, it moves my blood more than a heartbeat ever could, Bodhi
When your claws drag against my unprotected skin I know it's only because you wanted to be closer to me, Bodhi
Your presence could never be a bad omen Bodhi, you bring only happiness
Your existence is more than a Halloween accessory.
My life has only gotten better since we joined
Before you, I was lost and your energy brightened the stars that guided me to you, Bodhi
You were alone, as was I, and once it was time
The magnets of our souls adhered stronger than the gravity that holds us to earth to keep us together for as long as it's worth.

This piece is about my cat, Bodhi. He holds the biggest space in my brain and I actively try to bring him up as much as possible, because I think he deserves everything. He is just an active, innocent, and adorable little cat. People say a dog is a man's best friend, but I think Bodhi could easily replace any dog. This piece stems from my love for him.
