Teenage Love?

Do you believe in love in high school? Could it possibly exist?

No way, kids don't know what true love is... But, how many people do you know that dated in high school that are currently married and happy? I personally know about 4 couples very very well that are now happy after being high school sweethearts. Did they just like each other as teens and grow to love each other? When did the "like" change to "love?" In college? Age 21? 22?23? Or could they possibly have loved each other all along?

How can you put an age on love?

I, personally, believe in teenage love. I truly think it exists. Adults that did not fall in love till they were, in fact, adults, will most likely dismiss it. However, some - like my mother, for instance - do not dismiss teenage love. Do you?

Love Is Nothing But A Dream♥

I totally believe in teenage love, but i also think us teenagers overuse that word, and when adults say oh you dont know what love is! maybe they have forgotten wat true love really is about, and they think we dont really know, maybe we do know wat love is and they have forgotten and have put another meaning to it. maybe.

I believe that exists, but you have to go through things with the person your with to know real love. Like you have to go through tough things. If you can withstand it, there is a good chance that you are really in love.

I beleive that many teens do not know the true meaning of love, and use the term "I love you" far too freely. I love my best friends. I love volleyball. But this is not the same as saying the big "I love you" to your boyfriend or girlfriend. I personally think teenagers have better things to deal with then, "Oh I think I love him, and I'm gonna tell him that." Teens confuse love with infactuation.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I believe that teenage love is possible but I also think that we teens are so in love with the idea of being in love that we'll jump at any chance to be in love. So what I'm trying to say is that love is possible but are we really old enough to know the difference between love or what we think love is?

So I've read a heck of a lot of these comments here, and they are all from the views of older people.

I would like to contribute, from the point of view of someone in highschool.

I am a freshman. Fifteen years old. My boyfriend and I have been going out for 4 months. We fight ALOT. Everyday. Multiple times even. Have we ever given up? No. We've been through some pretty bad times, with him sitting on the street, hat over his face, sobbing. That was a really bad fight, and he sat down and cried after looking in his pocket and finding a note I had secretly put in his pocket earliar that said "You're awesome.". We do love each other. We want to be together, forever. We know that's hard. We know it'll take effort. But we're up to it. I know I'm a total bitch to him sometimes, but we can make it I beleive.

So yeah. I beleive in teen love.

I definitely believe in teenage love. Love doesn't have an age stamp.

If true love comes with marriage, then why is there infidelity? Why is there divorce? Not to say that there isn't true love, but marriage and true love do not always go hand in hand. Can you fall in and out of true love? Is there true love?

Also, if we are to young to know what love is, then do we not love our family, do we not love our friends?

I definitely believe in teenage love, but I also believe that as we change, our relationships do also, so that we "fall out" of love. I've been in love before, and I still love that boy, and I always will, but things have changed so much between us that we'll never be able to date or anything... and I believe that someday, I'll fall in love again with someone else.

It depends on the person. It is so difficult to make a generalized statement about teenage love, especially since some kids date just for the reputation. I find it's unfortunate that those kids who date for reputation are ruining the way adults see the ligitimacy or other teenagers' love.

There are some people who are in love with being in love and they think that whoever they are dating at the moment is their 'true love'. Then there are others who really do love the person they are with. I believe that it is hard for adults to believe that teens can be in love because they believe they are too immature. I believe that teens can be in love because they are still innocent enough to believe in love. They see that speacial person and know that that feeling in their heart is more than the simple little crush you have when there is a cute boy or girl in your class in the third grade. Love is something that is hard to understand and impossible to explain. Yes even teens can feel love and be in love with someone.

an eye for an eye, and the whole world goes blind~Ghandi

We don't have to know what anger is in order to feel it, it's something that's required in the human body the day we are born, some people don't feel as angry as often as others and some people even have to have counseling to control their anger, Isn't love the same thing then. Doesn't every child love their mother and father? Why can't teenagers love one another. Honestly I've never experienced true love, but because some teens are more willing to take more chances on love than others, adults frown upon it.

Telling a teen that "we don't know what love is", is like telling us that we don't know what anger is. We've been on this earth long enough to know that we love our family, why do we not have the right to say that we love someone other than family?
