Daddy's Womb MAG

April 23, 2008
By Anonymous

i asked my father if i could swim,
and he said that i would drown.
The Sea would imprison me – he said
if my feet had left the ground.

So i walked out to the water,
and cried out – how ’bout now!
He said, a little bit further, Son,
and then you’ll leave the ground.

i stepped on sand then stone,
from hollow ground to sturdy.
The sky was at my level as I
gazed at the birdie.

The Sea brought me a new idea,
the urge to flee to the high.

i asked my Father if i could fly,
and he said, sure, Son – go try.

i jumped as high as i could.
Still, i landed on the ground.
i saw my Father pull on a chain,
then i knew that i was bound.

I suppose I don't need to tell you what everyone else already has, but I truly loved your poem. It felt like it was spoken from the heart and I can relate greatly with your poem.

On the whole I was very impressed by this poem. I really think you have a gift, but for your next piece I would try and push the envelope more. You're trying to get out of your comfort zone as I can see by try a little harder and you should be happily surprised :)

"Why do people say the sky is the limit when theres foot prints on the moon" “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

very strong and very true...great work much repect

Thats what happens when you are told one thing but kept from it by another. The little white lies that you beleive and then grow up and realize that freedom was only implied by those around you and never really put into action

Ok this is a great article it shows that the farther tells the boy he can do what ever he wanted if he dreams big enough and that to me is a great dad.

this is great.

Daddy's womb-- is the chain kind of like an umbilical cord to which you are bound, in a figurative sense?
