Daddy's Womb MAG

April 23, 2008
By Anonymous

i asked my father if i could swim,
and he said that i would drown.
The Sea would imprison me – he said
if my feet had left the ground.

So i walked out to the water,
and cried out – how ’bout now!
He said, a little bit further, Son,
and then you’ll leave the ground.

i stepped on sand then stone,
from hollow ground to sturdy.
The sky was at my level as I
gazed at the birdie.

The Sea brought me a new idea,
the urge to flee to the high.

i asked my Father if i could fly,
and he said, sure, Son – go try.

i jumped as high as i could.
Still, i landed on the ground.
i saw my Father pull on a chain,
then i knew that i was bound.

I really really really like this poem.. No matter how old u get u always need a chain to pull you out of hard times. And who is better than your parents to hold that chain.. GREAT JOB!!

Sometimes parents don't have as much faith in their kids like they should. We got to believe in ourself sometimes.

*Women and men are very different, but not when it comes down to their heart

This poem resembles a childs imagination being destroyed by a controlling parent.

I really like it how your father tells you to go try knowing that you'll fail and when you try to fly he pulls on the chain and your bound. it's kinda sad in a way but relates well to many things. keep writing.

I loved this. It is simplistic, yet somehow complex at the same time. It's a real talent, the ability to twist words into emotions, and you have it. This is a true work of art. Pursue writing. You obviously have a passion for it.

Wow! I really liked the ending. Keep it up, you've got talent.

wow! parents just need to learn to let go and take thier chances. sometimes the impossible is what makes life worth living because dreams is what keeps us going. I love the way you written this poem! it really hits home. you should read my poem "Against my mother's heart" it's a different view of parenthood. I'm just getting started and i would love your feedback.
